When we first approached SIM in 2008, we were interested in serving internationally. At that time, the opportunity that had caught our attention was in Malawi. As our journey with SIM continued, we felt that God was leading us to work in the Canadian national office in Scarborough (Toronto), Ontario. When we applied for membership in 2009 and were accepted as members in 2011, we expected to be serving in Toronto. In August 2012, that changed when our SIM Canada leadership asked us to consider serving internationally prior to coming to work in the Toronto office. On October 29th, 2012, we agreed to a posting to the SIM Southern Africa Service Centre (SASC) office in Johannesburg, South Africa, where we would serve the region of Southern Africa.
We left Canada for South Africa on December 31, 2016 and arrived in Johannesburg on January 1, 2017. We worked in the SASC office from March 1, 2017 to October 31, 2018. On December 13, 2018 we left South Africa to return to Canada for home assignment.
Our goal is to return to South Africa and our work at the SASC. The timing of this return is very dependent on the speed with which our support is raised.
